Measure the sleeping shape
A dog that curls into a ball may like bolsters, while a dog that stretches out needs more length than the product photo suggests. Measure the resting position, not just weight.
Protect floor space
In a small apartment, a bed competes with walkways, doors, desks, and storage. Pick the place first, then choose a size that can stay there permanently.
Washability matters more than softness
A removable cover, accessible zipper, and realistic drying time keep the bed usable. Very plush beds can be harder to clean when hair and odor build up.
Do not assume chew resistance
Supportive foam and bolsters are not the same as chew-proof construction. For destructive chewers, durability and supervision matter more than premium comfort claims.
